Best Luxury Hotels in Bali for Families

The Chedi Club at Tanah Gajah (Ubud)

Chedi Club Hotel in Ubud, Bali

Unlike the beach areas such as Kuta and Nusa Dua, Ubud offers family travelers much fewer choices when it comes to full-service family facilities like a kids pool or kids club. The property is set in vast gardens and is imbibed with tradition at every turn. It is one of the oldest, and most elaborate hotels in the entire Ubud area, and even though it comes with a steep price tag, you’re sure to make memories that will last a lifetime. We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t leave the resort grounds during your entire stay with a rice-fields, swan ponds, a tennis court, an art gallery, yoga and cooking classes all at your fingertips. There are only 20 individual villas and suites on the property, giving you genuine privacy and relaxation. The family villas are roomy, nicely appointed and feature private swimming pools surrounded by lush gardens. (Rooms from $780)

Conrad Bali (Tanjung Benoa)

Conrad Bali swimming pool

The Conrad is a good middle of the road option for for families looking for a comfortable hotel in Bali without breaking the bank. Best Western Kuta Beach (Kuta)

Junior Suite, Best Western, Kuta Beach

We stayed here a few years back when I was pregnant, and while Kuta isn’t my favorite place in Bali, we had a nice experience here considering the low cost. While there’s no amenities to compete with the luxury resorts on our list, this hotel is a fine option for families on a budget, especially those with older kids. There’s no water slides, a children’s pool or a kids club so this property may be best for those with teenagers. It’s conveniently located 50 meters from legendary Kuta Beach with it’s amazing sunsets and world-renowned surf. You can also walk to the Beachwalk mall and numerous cafes and shops. The property is colorful and the rooftop pool offers nice views and cool breezes. The Junior Suite (pictured above) has a separate living/dining area with a sofa bed that can fold out into a single bed for extra sleeping space and connecting rooms are also available. (Rooms start at $35)

    • It depends on what you are looking for! We’ve stayed in Kuta with kids and we felt plenty safe but it is busy and the surf there can be a little rough for small kids and the beach less nice than some other areas. But, it is close to many of the most popular attractions and restaurants. If your kids like water slides, the water park, WaterBom Bali in Kuta is amazing – Western safety standards and seriously the nicest water park we’ve been to anywhere in the world including some of biggest ones in the US. My favorite area to stay in is Seminyak because the surf is usually calm and the water stays shallow for a long ways out which is great for little kids, and there’s lots of cute cafes and shops walking distance from the beach.
Nusa Dua is a good option if you want more of an “all inclusive” style resort getaway but it’s far from other attractions and restaurants so most people stay in their resort the majority of the time.
      Hope that’s helpful!
